What a show! Brutal and in your face actions!
I’m Stewart Smark, and lets get into what this show was all about!
The opening of the show saw Massive Damage and Sexy Samantha coming into the ring, introduced as the newly weds as they were married in Las Vegas the weekend before. While Massive Damage was thanking the audience, Greatness of Demand came out methodically to the ring: The MPW Heavyweight Champion Mark Posey, Vance Nevada, Adam Ryder, and Militia came slowly to the ring, carrying beers in their hands. They held up their beers in a “salute” to Massive Damage and Sexy Samantha amidst boos from the audience – they knew this wasn’t the show of respect G.O.D. claim it to be. They climbed into the ring and aggressively grabbed the microphone. Mark Posey got on the microphone, claiming they wanted to pay respect to the new couple, and offered Massive a beer as a congratulations on getting some like Sexy Sam. Massive declined, saying he hasn’t touched alcohol in over two years. Things were getting heated fast in the ring and just when fists were about to fly, Kyle Sebastian (Who just won the Cauliflower Alley Club’s 2011 Future Legend Award) and Tyler James, the tag team champions, charged into the ring to break up the number advantage G.O.D. had. Massive then challenged G.O.D. to a six man tag: Massive Damage, Tyler James and Kyle Sebastian VS Mark Posey, Vance Nevada and Adam Ryder. Nelson Mayer – MPW owner – said it sounded like a great idea to him, and the match was then set!
Next up, Tag Team action! Phil Lafon & Sonic Insania VS Chris Perish & Mutato. Through the match it was clearly apparent that Perish was mentoring the young Mutato in the ring. Also, early on something hurt Phil Lafon, leaving a lot of pressure on Sonic’s shoulders. This was a very solid back and forth match, with Perish yelling at his partner to try to show him how to do things the ”right way” and letting him take most of the beating. At the end we saw Sonic touch the skies, as he hit a strong moonsault on Mutato for the win. After the match, Perish was clearly angry at Mutato for the loss.
Next was a Triple Threat for the number one contender for Nite’s Provincial Championship: Jack Hammer VS The Canadian Tornado VS Taylor Stone Early on in the match it was clear that Canadian Tornado and Taylor Stone were going to try to keep the big man, Jack Hammer, down. Eventually they got him out of the ring, and Stone and Tornado went at it until Jack Hammer got back in. His strength was proving too much for the others in the match, even while they pulled out some good offense. Just when Taylor was getting some momentum, he was caught by the throat by Jack Hammer. Sensing an opening, Tornado took a chance going off the top rope after him, only to be caught by the neck as well. Using his impressive power, Jack Hammer lifted both and dropped them both down for a huge double choke slam for the win. With the strength this man holds, could Nite’s title reign be in trouble?
At this show we saw the emergence of a new female wrestler on the roster, Donna Matrix. She started by grabbing the microphone and telling the audience a little about herself. She told them about her martial-arts background as well that she is here to stay (having mentioned that there a lot of a girls that seem to come and go). That’s when she was cut off by Greatness on Demand member Militia, who talked her down saying this was her ring, and she could go on and on about her background but that still doesn’t change the fact that she is the dominate female in Monster Pro Wrestling. Militia demanded that she get out of her ring, and when she didn’t a match was challenged. A new referee came out to start the match; soon the bell was rung and the match was on. Donna Matrix was getting the upper hand early in the match with quick take downs. This enraged the Militia, who began to cheat – pulling hair, raking eyes. Finally after frustration built, she started to choke her, breaking at a four count. Despite the ref firmly telling her that he would disqualify her, she went back to choking; after not breaking at a five count the ref pulled her off, to which Militia answered by shoving him down. With the ref down, Militia was looking to take advantage but Sexy Samantha interfered and forced her out of the ring. When the ref finally got up, Samantha was in the ring and Militia had attacked the ref, so it was declared a double disqualification no contest. What does the future hold for this young Donna Matrix?
Next we have a very strange match – which they always are when we see Spooky Bonanza. This match was Spooky Bonanza vs Nite. Most of this match saw Nite using wit to confuse Spooky. He even used his new cohorts, Chris Perish and Mutato, to try to baffle the strange Spooky even more. Nite started to use a karate stance, to which Spooky answered with a stance of his own – only to have Nite kick his feet out from under him. Near the end Nite got Spooky to attack Mutato, then got outside the ring and asked for the tag from Spooky. In confusion, Spooky fell for this prank and tagged Nite in, who surprised him from behind to get a quick win. At the end of the match the crowd heard Nite proudly exclaim, ”Who’s the best wrestler you’ve ever seen?”. Will he keep the momentum from this win going into his match with Jack Hammer, or will the ”Best Wrestler” fall to the strength of Jack Hammer? Only time will tell!
Intermission time! Normally I won’t be mentioning intermissions, but this show saw an event that was both brutal and inhumane. Sexy Samantha and Massive Damage were showing off wedding photos when Greatness on Demand came in and shoved Massive headfirst into the wall, busting him wide open and causing Sam to burst into tears and scream for help. Massive was clearly hurt when he was carried backstage, blood dripping on the floor the whole way. This was a cheap shot to Massive, and with this attack the presence of Massive Damage in the main event is unclear.
Which leads us to the main event! Just beforehand we find out Massive Damage will not be in this match, due to his injury at intermission. So we have Kyle Sebastian & Tyler James VS Mark Posey, Vance Nevada & Adam Ryder. This match was filled with emotions and rage; the chops were loud and the moves quick. The numbers game was way too much for the Tag Champions. Though they mounted lots of good offense, they couldn’t secure a win – they tried their hardest. Eventually G.O.D. was just beating them down, and being cocky about it. Just when the end was near the crowd roared with cheering; Massive Damage, with a bandage wrapped around his head, came rushing to the ring like a train and started cleaning the house of G.O.D. Mark Posey became the key in the assault when he was speared out of his boots by Massive. With blood just pouring down Massive’s face at this point, he gets the pin-fall on Posey. Massive was victorious in this match, as well as sending a strong message to G.O.D. and the Heavyweight Champion.
Are the Heavyweight Champion’s days numbered, or will G.O.D. be able to use their numbers to keep Massive Damage down? Will the new number one contender, Jack Hammer, manage to one-up the Provincial champion, or will Nite’s new found cohorts keep the title on him? With the emergence of this new wrestler Donna Matrix, what impact will she have on the women’s division? Will G.O.D be gunning for the Tag Team titles as well, or will Phil Lafon and Sonic Insania rise to stake their own right to challenge for the titles? Perhaps some questions will be answered, maybe more questions will rise. We’re on the road to Shockwave, May 21 at the Grindhouse! I’m Stewart Smark, and I’ll see you next show!
